a transphobic NYT

I am disgusted by the NYT’s headline and the framing of this article. I had read the association’s statement when it was published, and it made a key effort to highlight that the cancelled panel was different because: “It commits one of the cardinal sins of scholarship — it assumes the truth of the proposition that it sets out to prove, namely, that sex and gender are simplistically binary, and that this is a fact with meaningful implications for the discipline.”

The makes no reference to this anywhere. (It simply skips the second paragraph to quote partly from the third, where the association points out that eugenics was a thing.)

This is kind the transphobia that permeates the NYT and makes me lose respect for what should be a proud institution.
